ISO Management System Standards

The familiar ISO management system standards are to be used in the High-Level Structure (HLS), which is a set of ten clauses that gives all standards the same look and feel. The HLS also effects a better integration between systems of different disciplines. The HLS uses a core text which is standard in every management system, plus a contextualized text that will be added depending on what the management system is about, whether it be Quality, OHS, Environment or another discipline.

A common set of standards to define an Operational Integrity Management System (OIMS) is:

  • ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management
  • ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management
  • ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management
  • ISO 55001:2014 Asset Management
  • ISO 22301:2019 Business Continuity Management
  • ISO 27001:2013 Information Security Management

The ten clauses of the HLS which all of these standards have in common are:

  1. Scope
  2. Normative References
  3. Terms and Definitions
  4. Context of the Organization
  5. Leadership
  6. Planning
  7. Support
  8. Operation
  9. Performance Evaluation
  10. Improvement
